Answer:

Step-by-step explanation

50cm=0.5 m

length = 5+0.5+0.5=6m

breadth= 2 + 0.5+0.5=3

perimeter of rectangle = 2 (l+b)

                                      = 2 x (6 +3)=18m

18m= 1800cm

10paise =0.10rupees

1800 x 0.10 =180 rupees

Hence the cost of knitting the border at 10 paise per sq cm is 6000 rupees.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given:

Let length L = 5 m = 5 \times 100 = 500 cm.      [ 1 m = 100 cm]

And breadth = 2 m = 2 \times 100 = 200 cm.

Area of tablecloth = Length \times breadth

                             = 500 \times 200

                              = 100000 cm^2

Now width of border = 50 cm

Length of the tablecloth excluding border = (500 - 50 - 50) cm = 400 cm

Width of tablecloth excluding the border = (200 – 50 – 50) cm = 100 cm

Area of tablecloth excluding the border = (400\times 100)

                                                                  = 40000 sq cm.

Area of the border = total area of tablecloth – area of tablecloth excluding the border

                                 = 100000 - 40000

                                 = 60000 sq cm.

Cost of knitting the border at 10 paise per sq cm = 60000 \times 10

= 600000 paise or 6000 rupees

Hence the cost of knitting the border at 10 paise per sq cm is 6000 rupees.
