A 6 m 40 cm high vertical pole casts a shadow 4 m 80 cm long. Find at the same time the length of the shadow cast by another pole 5 m 60 cm high.

Hey.

Here is the answer.

Let the length of shadow reduced by a factor of x.

So, 6.40 × x = 4.80

so, x = 4.80/6.40 = 3/4

So, 5.60× x will be the shadow of the other pole = 5.60×3/4 =4.20

Or, 4 m 20 cm is the length of the shadow.

Pole height 6m 40cm = 640cm  Shadow 4m 80cm = 480cm
Pole height 5m 60cm = 560cm

560/640 X 480 = 70 X 6 = 420cm

Shadow lenght = 4m 20cm
