let the length of first cut be x

according to the question

x+2x+4x+8x=6
15x=6
x=6/15
x=0.40m

longest piece will be 8x
8×0.40=3.2m

x + 2x+ 4x + 8x = 6
x = 6/15
x= 2/5m
so , longest piece = 8x
8× 2/5= 16/5
= 3.2 m
