The Amitriptyline  is actually a anti-depressant, this medicine may cause  the disease like "mild pupillary dilation" which would ultimately result in glaucome( a disease relating to eye vision). So the nurse should recommend him that in case any side effects occur.
Also, tho anti-depression may cause in increase in sucidal thoughts in patient so patient and its  relative should be told about it so that in any thing unusual happen they can report it , but this sucidal  thinking is not common 65 years old persons.
