6a2-12ab-ab+2b2=0

6a(a-2b)-b(a-2b)=0

(6a-b) (a-2b)

6a-b=0 , a-2b =0

6a=b ,a=2b

a=b/6

so , a has two values

a=b/6 and a=2b
