due its reaction with CO2 and moisture from air. Therefore the solution prepared by dissolving 60 g NaOH in 100 g H2O is only approximately 60% and containing some carbonates too, means, not a pure solution of NaOH. You must also be aware that this quantity of 60 g NaOH can only dissolve in 100 g of H2O over 10 deg.C, according to the excellent table given thankfully by Mushtaq Ahmad.
