TPS: Acceleration= 35000/18000..... total mass = 18000kg
Anonymous: how ?
Anonymous: no n...here its told mass of train...not engine
TPS: Engine is a part of the train. Engine is the one which applies the force.
Anonymous: Engine is pulling a train of 5 wagons so we dont need to add the weight of engine
TPS: Lets say a man is riding a bicycle. bicycle weighs 15 kg and the man weighs 85 kg. i he applies 150N force, and friction is 50N, what will be its acceleration of the cycle?
himansu59: yes it is impotant to consider the mass of engine..

1. Net accelerating force =

40000 - 5000

= 35000N

2. Acceleration of the train =

35000 / 5*2000

35000 / 10000

= 3.5 ms^-2

himansu59: u need to consider the mass of engine also....
TPS: yep.. total mass = 18000
