A 8000kg engine pulls a train of 5 wagons, each of 1500kg,along a horizontal track.If the engine

exerts a force of 30000 N and the track offers a frictional force of 5000 N, then calculate:

(a) the net accelerating force;

(b) the acceleration of the train; and

(c) the force of wagon 1 on wagon 2.

A) first add the mass of the engine and the wagons

that is = 8000+(1500×5)

8000+7500

15,500kg

then subtract force

that is =30000-5000

25000N

then put the formula

F=ma

25000=15500×a

25000/15500=a

50/31=a

1.61 m/s
