Answer:

a + 8b = 11 ...(i)

8a - b = 88 ...(ii)

from (i)

a + 8b = 11

a = 11 - 8b

substituting this value in (ii)

8a - b = 88

8 ( 11 - 8b ) -b = 88

88 - 64b - b = 88

( 88 will get cancelled on both the sides )

-65b = 0

therefore , b =0

substituting the value of b in (i)

a + 8b = 11

a + 8*0 = 11

therefore , a = 11

hence , a = 11

b = 0
