A 8V battery is connected to a lamp of resistance 12 ohm through a Rheostat. If the current in the
circuit is 0.25A, what will be the resistance offered by the Rheostat?

Current = 0.25A

Resistance of lamp = 12Ω

Resistance of rehostat = ?

Voltage(V) = Current(I)*Resisatnce(R)

V = IR => R = V/I

R - Stands for total resistance.

R = 8/0.25 = 8*100/25 = 8*4 = 32Ω.

Lamp offers 12Ω resistance.

So left over is offered by rehostat. = 32Ω - 12Ω = 20Ω.
