Given :-

  • A 96cm long wire is given in the shape of rectangle such that its lenght is 12cm more than it's breadth.

To find :-

  • Length and breadth of rectangle

Solution :-

It is given that 96cm long wire. It means perimeter of rectangle is 96cm.

Let the breadth be x then its length of rectangle be x + 12

According to the given condition

As we know that

Perimeter of wire = Perimeter of rectangle = 96cm

→ Perimeter of wire = 96

→ 2(length + breadth) = 96

→ 2(x + x + 12) = 96

→ x + x + 12 = 96/2

→ 2x + 12 = 48

→ 2x = 48 - 12

→ 2x = 36

→ x = 36/2

→ x = 18

Hence,

  • Breadth of rectangle = x = 18cm
  • Length of rectangle = x + 12 = 30cm

Verification :-

  • Length = 25 cm
  • Breadth = 18 cm

Perimeter of wire

→ 2(l + b)

→ 2(30 + 18)

→ 2 × 48

→ 96 cm

Therefore, verified
