Answer:
I have always used a very simple method to answer these types of questions in my exams.
Assume x=√a+√b
Square in both sides: x^2 = <√a+√b>^2
Expand the right hand side of the equation.
That will give you x^2 = a + b + 2( √ab)
X will be the square root of the expression on the right.
I have assumed that a and b are positive whole numbers.
You can check this out by substitution of values for a and b.
Let's take a = 25 and b = 4.
√a + √b = 7.
25+4+ 2(√100) = 49. √49 = 7.
