Given :-

  • A car uses 1 L petrol to cover a distance of 16 km

To Find :-

  • How much distance it will cover in 2¾ L petrol

Solution :-

Distance covered in 1 L petrol = 16 Km

Distance covered in 2¾ L petrol :-

⇒ 16 × 2¾

⇒ 16 × 11/4

⇒ 4 × 11

GIVEN :

  • A car runs 16km using 1litre of petrol.

TO FIND :

  • How much distance will it cover using 2 ¾ litres of petrol

FIGURE :

\setlength{\unitlength}{1.6mm}\begin{picture}(30,20)\linethickness{2 mm}\linethickness{2mm}\put(-4,30){\line(1,0){45}}\put(-4,-15){\line(1,0){45}}\put(2,-1){}\linethickness{0.6mm}\put(-4.6,-1){\line(1,0){45}}\linethickness{0.4mm}\linethickness{0.2mm}\put(6.5,-6){\dashbox{0.1}(19,4)[l]}\put(5.5,-5){\vector(-1,0){10}}\put(8.5,-5){Distance = 44km}\put(27,-5){\vector(1,0){9}}\put(3,1){\oval(15,8)[t]}\put(3,5){\oval(9,6)[t]}\put(-0.8,1){\circle{3}}\put(7,1){\circle{3}}\put(0.5,1.7){\line(1,0){5}}\put(-4.3,1.1){\line(1,0){2}}\put(8.5,1.1){\line(1,0){2}}\put(2,5){\dashbox{0.1}(2,1.5)[I]}\end{picture}

SOLUTION :

Distance car runs in a 1 litre = 16 km

Distance car runs in a \sf 2\dfrac{3}{4} litre = \sf 16 \times 2\dfrac{3}{4}

\sf 16 \times \left(2 + \dfrac{3}{4}\right)

\sf 16 \times \left(\dfrac{8+3}{4}\right)

\sf 16 \times \left(\dfrac{11}{4}\right)

\sf 4 \times 11

\pink{\sf 44\: km}

Therefore, the car will cover 44 km distance using 2 ¾ litres of petrol.
