a a dishonest milkman claims to sell milk at cost price but the milk is adulterated with 20% of water . what is his profit percent

Gain = 20 %

Let the CP of 1 litre of milk be Rs. 1

SP of 1 litre of mixture = Rs. 1

CP of 1 litre mixture = 100 / 125 × 1

= 4 / 5.

1 / 5 th of Milk.

so, Ratio of Milk to water = 4 / 5 : 1 / 5

= 4 : 1.

Hence, % of water in the mixture = 1 / 5 × 100 %

= 20 %
