a) A hoist is accelerated uniformly from rest at an acceleration of 3 m/s2 to reach a speed of 7.4 m/s and is then retarded uniformly to rest. The distance travelled during acceleration is twice that travelled during retardation. Sketch the velocity time graph and determine:

(ii) the total distance travelled.
