(a) A match that you have seen on the playground or on TV
Answers
We are asked to describe the match that we have seen on the playground or on TV. The match described is a match that was seen on TV.
This is the match between India and South Africa that was played yesterday in India. It was a one-day international cricket match that had been reduced to 40 overs due to the rain. In spite of the rain, the viewers did not lose hope and waited for the match to start and what a match it was.
South Africa batted first and made a massive score of 249 runs. The hopes of the Indian viewers were already low as no one actually expected India to win. Even when the Indian batsman started playing they started losing wickets. So the hopes still reduced of a victory.
Then the way the cricketers played in the fifth and sixth positions was really worth seeing. They just thought they were playing for the nation and decided that even though they can lose they will not lose face by losing by a big margin. At the end of the match, they came so close that we lost only by 9 runs.
This is what is called a true match and true sportsmanship. Even though the match ended on a losing side Indians did not lose face and each viewer was happy that the cricketers gave such a good fight. Winning and losing a match does not matter. What matters is how the match is played.
