Given : A rectangle is constructed using 6 squares ach having a side equal to x

To Find :  an algebraic expression for the area and the perimeter of the

rectangle.

Solution:

Rectangle using 6 squares can be formed in 2 ways

1 * 6   or 2 * 3

As figure is missing

Hence solving for both case

Case 1

1 * 6

Length = 6x

Width = x

Area =  6x.x = 6x²

Perimeter = 2(x + 6x)  = 14x

Case 2

2 * 3

Length = 3x

Width = 2x

Area =  3x.2x = 6x²

Perimeter = 2(3x + 2x)  = 10x
