Step-by-step explanation:

Given:

  • Total sum of money is Rs 980
  • It has to be distributed in 7 cash prizes to students
  • Each prize for the student is 30 less than , it's preceding prize

To Find:

  • What is the value of each prize

Solution: Let the first prize be Rs x .

Second prize will be: (x 30) and so on......

∴ Last prize will be ( x 30 x 6 )

Total amount is Rs 980

A/q

\small\implies{\sf } x + ( x 30) + ( x 60 ) + ( x 90 ) + ( x 120 ) + ( x 150 ) + ( x 180 ) = Rs 980

\small\implies{\sf } 7x 180 450 = Rs 980

\small\implies{\sf } 7x 630 = Rs 980

\small\implies{\sf } 7x = 980 + 630

\small\implies{\sf } 7x = 1610

\small\implies{\sf } x = 1610/7

\small\implies{\sf }x = 230

Therefore, Prizes will be

  • x = 230

  • x 30 = 230 30 = 200

  • x 60 = 230 60 = 170

  • x 90 = 230 90 = 140

  • x 120 = 230 120 = 110

  • x 150 = 230 150 = 80

  • x 180 = 230 180 = 50
