let B age is y

x = 2y

x -2y = 0. eq1

x - 8 = 4(y - 8)

x - 8 = 4y -32

x - 4y = -24. eq2

Multiply eq1 by 2 and subtract from eq2...

-2x + 4y = 0
x - 4y = -24

- x = - 24

x = 24

Now put x in eq1

x = 2y

24 / 2 = y

y = 12

Hence A age is 24 yrs

B age is 12 yrs
