Let work done by A is in 8 days

But engaging an assistant (B) work done is in A+B= 5 days

Which means B can do work alone in 8-5=3 days

Alone can do a piece of work in 8 days  and get = Rs 800

For 1 days = \frac{800}{8}=100 Rs

For 3 days i.e, assistant can get = 100\times 3=300 Rs

So, The share to be received by assistant is Rs. 300
