(a) An object is moving with uniform speed in a circle of radius 7m. Calculate the distance and displacement when it completes half the circle. What type of motion does the object possess? (c) A particle is travelling in a circle of diameter 15m. (d) Calculate the distance covered and the displacement when it completes two rounds.

a. Given radius (r) is 7 m

Finding distance

Distance is the total path travelled by the body

Therefore here distance= Circumference of circle

Formula for circumference of a circle is 2πr

=2*(22/7)*7

=44m

Therefore distance covered is 44/2( Since it is a semi circle)

=22m

Therefore distance covered by the body is 22m.

Finding displacement

Displacement is the shortest distance

Therefore here displacement= The diameter of the circle

=2r

=2*7

=14m

The object possesses uniform circular motion

c.

Given diameter (d) is 15 m

Therefore r=d/2 (Since d=2r)

=15/2

=7.5m

Finding distance

d. Distance is the total path travelled by the body

Therefore here distance= Circumference of circle

Formula for circumference of a circle is 2πr

=2*(22/7)*7.5

=47.14m

Therefore distance covered is 47.14*2( Since body covers distance of 2 times the circle )

=94.28m

Therefore distance covered by the body is 94.28m.

Finding displacement

Displacement is the shortest distance

Therefore here displacement= Final position-Initial position

=0m
