Answer:

1.

When an ore on the treatment with the dilute hydrochloric acid produces brisk effervescence to produce a colorless and odorless gas then the ore should be carbonate ore. The operation required to obtain metal from it will be a calcination process. Hence, the given ore is a carbonate ore.

2.

Answer:

(a) Carbonate Ore.

Calcination: carbonate ore is heated in Limited supply of air an oxide is obtained. e.g

 \sf \red{ZnCO_3(s) \xrightarrow{heat} ZnO(s) + CO2(g)}

Reduction with Carbon: oxide ore is then heated with carbon to obtain metal.

 \sf \green{ZnO(s) + C(s)  {\large\to }Zn(s) + CO(g)}

(b) Copper being more reactive than silver will displace silver from silver nitrate solution and there will be decomposition of silver on copper coin. The colour of solution will turn blue.

 \sf \purple{Cu(s) + 2AgNO_3(aq) \xrightarrow{} Cu(No_3)_2(aq) +2Ag(s)}
