Given :-

♦ A and B are Complementary angles .

♦ 2 ∠A = 7 ∠B

To find :-

♦ The measures of A and B

Solution :-

Given that

A and B are Complementary angles .

Therefore, ∠A + ∠B = 90° ---------------(1)

Given that

2 A = 7 B

=> 2 A - 7 B = 0° ------------------------(2)

On multiplying (1) with 2 then

2 A + 2 B = 180° -----------------------(3)

On subtracting (2) from (3)

2 ∠A + 2 ∠B = 180°

2 ∠A - 7 ∠B = 0°

(-)

_______________

0 + 9 ∠B = 180°

_______________

=> 9 ∠B = 180°

=> ∠B = 180°/9

=> ∠B = 20°

On substituting the value of ∠B in (1) then

∠A + 20° = 90°

=> ∠A = 90°-20°

=> ∠A = 70°

Therefore, ∠A = 70° and ∠B = 20°

Answer :-

The measure of ∠A = 70°

The measure of ∠B = 20°

Used formulae:-

Complementary angles:-

If the sum of two angles is equal to 90° then they are called Complementary angles.

  • The Complementary angle of is (90-X)°
