A and B are points on a line that has the slope –3. The abscissa of B exceeds the abscissa of A by 2. State the relationship of the ordinate of B to the ordinate of A.

Let A be the point . (a,b)

Then B must be (a+2, b+c)  

We are trying to find the value of c here and we know that the slope of line through A and B is - 3.

So with the slope of -3 we will get this:

b - (b+c)/ a - (a+2) = -3

eiπ  + 1 = 0
