Solution :

Given a and b are two whole numbers

and a is the predecessor of b .

b = a + 1 ,

Now ,

a - b

= a - ( a + 1 )

= a - a - 1

= -1

Therefore

a - b = -1

Given,

a and b are 2 whole numbers and a comes before b [predecessor].

Find, a-b.

We know that, the difference of a predecessor of a number and the number is always equal to the negative integer -1.

Proof :

If a=0, then b will be 1. [as a should be the predecessor of b]

Then,

a-b = 0-1 = -1.

Hence proved.

So, a-b=-1 [where a and b are whole numbers and a is the predecessor of b].
