Question :- A and B are two heavy steel blocks. If B is

placed on the top of A, the weight increases by 60%. How much weight will reduce with respect to the total weight of A and B, if B is removed from the top of A ?

Solution :-

Let us assume that, the weight of A is 100kg.

Now, we have given that, If B is placed on the top of A, the weight increases by 60%.

Then,

→ when B is placed on top of A, Total weight = 100 + (60% of 100) = 100 + (100 * 60/100) = 100 + 60 = 160kg.

Now, if we remove from top, then again weight becomes 100 kg.

Therefore,

→ Reduction in weight = 160 - 100 = 60kg.

Hence,

weight reduced in % = (60 * 100)/160 = 37.5% (Ans.)
