Given that two cars start with different speeds from point A to B at same time.
Let the speed of the car at A be x km/hr and speed of the car at B be y km/hr.
= > Given that if they move in same direction, they meet in 15 hours.
We know that Time = Distance/Speed
15 = 150/x - y
= > (x - y) * 15 = 150
= > 15x - 15y = 150
= > x - y = 10 ------------- (1)
Given that if they move in opposite direction, they meet in 1 hour.
= > 1 = 150/x + y
= > x + y = 150 -------------- (2)
On solving (1) & (2), we get
x - y = 10
x + y = 150
---------------
2x = 160
x = 80
Substitute x = 80 in (1), we get
= > x - y = 10
= > 80 - y = 10
= > y = 70.
Therefore, the speeds of the cars are 80 km/hr & 70 km/hr.
