Answer:

Given:

‘A’ complete work in 10 days and ‘B’ complete work in 12 days.

Formula used:

Time is taken = total work/efficiency to complete work

Calculation:

A can finish the work in 10 days.

∴ A’s one-day work = 1/10

Similarly B’s one day work = 1/12

∴ (A + B)’s 3 days work

⇒ (1/10 + 1/12) × 3

⇒ 11/20

Remaining work = 1 – 11/20 = 9/20

∴ time taken to finish the remaining work by B is

⇒ 9/20 ÷ 1/12

⇒ 27/5

Total time taken = 3 + 27/5

⇒ 42/5

∴ total time taken to complete work = 42/5
