Per day work be done by A = 36/12=3 units of work per day

Per day work be done by B =  36/18=2 units of work per day

therefore in two days (2+3) = 5 units of work will be done .

therefore nearest units of work done by them in 7 cycles of 2 day each=(5*7)= 35 units in 14 days(7×2)

left 1 unit of work will be done by A in 12/36 =1/3 of day

= Total time for work will be 14 and 1/3 Days

Hence total time taken will be 14\frac{1}{3} days
