Given  : A and B can complete a work in 12 and 18 days respectively.

To Find : How much should A take as his share from the total amount of Rs. 650 paid for the work

Solution:

A work in 1 day = 1/12

B work in 1 day  = 1/18

Let say work is completed in d days

=> A work in d day = d/12

   B work in 1 day  = d/18

Total work = d/12 + d/18   = ( 3d + 2d)/36  = 5d/36

5d/36  = 650

=> d = 650 * 36/5  = 130 * 36

A share = d/12  = 130 * 36/12  = 390  Rs

B share = d/18 = 130 * 36/18  = 260  Rs

A take as his share from the total amount of Rs. 650 paid for the work = Rs 390
