Lets say that A and B are working on a huge project, and instead each piece of work is part of the huge project they earn, and each part of the project is $1.

Every 200 days, B earns $5 and A earns $4. $5 + $9 = $9

So, every 200 days, the together earn $9 with B getting $5 and A getting $4.

Continue this: $9 x 50 = $450.

Therefore, B gets 5 x 50 = $250

Answer:

Rs.250

Step-by-step explanation:

A can complete the work in 50 days.

So, A's 1 day work = 1/50

B can complete the same work in 40 days.

So, B's 1 day work = 1/40

Ratio of their wages = 1/50 : 1/40

= 1/50 ÷ 1/40

= 1/50 × 40

= 4/5

= 4 : 5

Sum of the terms of ratio = 4 + 5

= 9

Total money earned by them by completing the work together = Rs. 450

Therefore, B's share = 450/9 × 5

= Rs. 250

Hope it helps :)

Anyways, I think this question is from class 8 Pearson.
