Here is the solution for your problem ;

A can do the work in 6 days.

A in 1 day can finish 1/6 th of the work.

In 2 days,

A would have finished 2 x 1/6 = 1/3 Of the work.

Remaining work to be completed: 1-1/3 = 2/ 3 of the work

B in 1 day can finish 1/4 th of the work

A & B in 1 day can finish 1/4 + 1/6 = 5/12 work

5/12 Of the work can be completed by A and B in 1 day

time taken to complete 2/3rd of the work = 2/3 x 12/5 = 8/5 days

1/3 rd of the earlier work done by A alone = 2 days

Total time taken to complete the work:— 2 + 8/5 =3 1/6 days.
