Solution:

Given,

A can finish a piece of work in 6 days,

Hence, In 1 day A will do 1/6 part of work,

B can finish a piece of work in 4 days,

Hence, In 1 day B will do 1/4 part of work,

Given ,
Firstly A has worked for 2 days,

Hence A will complete 2 × 1 / 6 = 1 / 3 part of work

So, Remaining Work = 2/3 part

In Condition, If A and B works together,

In 1 day,
Together A and B could do = (1/6 + 1/4) of work

= 5/12 part of work

Hence, 2/3 part of work requires 2/3 × 1/(5/12)

= 8/5 days,

=> Total time To finish the work

Working together:

= 2 + 8/5

= 18/5 days

Hence, the required total time taken to finish the work is 18 / 5 days.
