Answer

A + B = 6 days

If A works for 2 days, work done = 1/4th work

A's one day's work = 1/A

Equation:

1/2 = 4/A

A = 8

.°. A can do work in 8 days

B can do it in :

1/B = 1/6 - 1/8

1/B = 1/24

B can do it in 24 days

Solution :-

A and B can together finish a work in 6 days.

(A + B)'s one day work = 1/6

Let us suppose that A's one day work = 1/x

A's two work = 2/x

=> 1/4 = 2/x

=> x = 8

Let B can do the rest work in y days.

=> 1/y = 1/6 - 1/8

=> 1/y = (4 - 3)/24

=> 1/y = 1/24

=> y = 24

Hence,

B can do the rest work in 24 days.
