lets assume that time taken by a is t hours then time taken by b will be (t+(36/60)) hours

Case of a

9=D/(t+(36/60))

9t+(27/5)=D

5D-45t=27.........(i)

case of b

10=D/t

D-10t=0..........(ii)

performing(ii)x5-(i), we get

5t=27

t=27/5

substituting in (ii) we get

D=54km

the distance travelled by each is 54km
