and 17:8 respectively. Mixture - A and B are mixed to
form another mixture - C. If quantity of milk in mixture
- Cis 75 liters and ratio of total quantity of mixture - A
to that of mixture - B is 2:5, then find quantity of water
in mixture - A is how much less than that of in mixture -

Answer:

Option 5 is correct.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given:

Ratio of milk and water in mixture A = 4 : 1

Ratio of milk and water in mixture B = 17 : 8

Mixture A and b are mixed together to form Mixture C.

Quantity of milk in mixture C = 75 l

Ratio of Total Quantity of Mixture A to Mixture B = 2 : 5

To find: Quantity of water in mixture A less than in mixture B.

let,

Quantity of milk in mixture A = 4x

Quantity of water in mixture A = x

Total Quantity of mixture A = 4x + x = 5x

Quantity of milk in mixture B = 17y

Quantity of water in mixture B = 8y

Total Quantity of mixture B = 17y + 8y = 25y

According to the Question,

\frac{5x}{25y}=\frac{2}{5}

25x = 50y

x - 2y = 0 .............................(1)

4x + 17y = 75 ...........................(2)

put value of x from (1) on (2)

4(2y) + 17y = 75

25y = 75

y = 3

Now value of x = 2(3) = 6

So,

Quantity of water in mixture A = 6 l

Quantity of water in mixture C = x + 8y = 6 + 8(3) = 30 l

Quantity of water in mixture A less than in mixture B. = 30 - 6 = 24 l

Therefore, Option 5 is correct.
