Given :  A and B start a trading business with a capital of 30000 and 60000 respectively.

From the profit of entire year which is 18000,

A gets 8500 as his share of profit and salary for managing the business.

To Find : The amount that A receives as his salary

Solution:

Let say Amount A receive as salary = 1000x

Profit to be shared =  18000 - 1000x

= 1000(18 - x)

A and B investment  30000 and 60000 respectively

A : B = 30000 : 60000

=> A : B = 1 : 2

Ratio of A  in profit  = (1/3) * 1000(18 - x)

Salary of A = 1000x

Total A received = 1000x + (1/3) * 1000(18 - x)

Equate with 8500

=>  1000x + (1/3) * 1000(18 - x)    = 8500

=> 30x +  180 - 10x  =  255

=> 20x  = 75

=> 1000x = 3750

The amount that A receives as his salary  = 3750
