B can do a job in = 8 days

therefore , work done by B in 1 day = 1/8

work done by both ( A+B) in 1 day = 1/6+1/8

≈ 4+3/24 = 7/24

work done by both A and B in 2 days = 7/24*2

= 7/12

So remaining work = 1-7/12

= 12-7/12 = 5/12

( A can work in 6 days)

therefore , A can do 5/12 work in= 6×5/12

= 5/2 days

2 1/2 days.
