Given :- A and B start to run from the same point in the same direction, around a circular track. If they take 64 seconds and 72 seconds respectively to complete one round along the track, when will they meet again, the next time, at the starting ? .

Solution :-

we know that, when two persons A and B are running around a circular track than :-

  • They will meet at the starting point at a time which is the LCM of the timings taken by each of them to complete one full round .

Given that,

→ A takes time to complete one round = 64 seconds.

→ B takes time to complete one round = 72 seconds.

So,

LCM of 64 and 72 :-

→ 64 = 2 * 2 * 2 * 2 * 2 * 2 .

→ 72 = 2 * 2 * 2 * 3 * 3 .

LCM = 64 * 9 = 576 seconds. (Ans.)

Hence, A and B meets again at the starting point after 576 seconds.
