Solution,

Now, they are walking in the opposite directions from the same point.

So, each of them needs to cover half of the final distance to create the gap of full final distance between them.

Half of final distance = 27/2 = 13.5 km

A covers 4 km in = 1 hour

A covers 1 km in = 1/4 hour

A covers 13.5 km in = 13.5/4 = 3.375 hour

And,

B covers 5 km in = 1 hour

B covers 1 km in = 1/5 hour

B covers 13.5 km in = 13.5/5 = 2.7 hour

Now, they start walking at the same time, so we don't need to add the journey times of them. The person who takes greater time is the total time needed to create the gap of the final distance.

Here, the time taken by A is greater than B.

Hence, they will take 3.375 hours.
