Given : A and b together complete a work in 9 days time taken by a to complete the work alone is 7.5 days less than b.

To Find : In  How many days b can complete the work 2/9 part.

Solution:

Time taken by B to complete work  =   B days

Time taken by A to complete work  =   B- 7.5 days

= (2B - 15)/2

A and b together complete a work in 9 days

=>  1/(2B - 15)/2  + 1/ B  = 1/9

=> 2/(2B - 15)  + 1/B  = 1/9

=>  18 B + 9 (2B - 15)  =  B(2B - 15)

=> 18B + 18B - 135  = 2B²  -15B

=> 2B² - 51B + 135 = 0

=> 2B² - 6B - 45B + 135 = 0

=> 2B(B - 3) - 45(B - 3) = 0

=> (2B - 45)(B - 2) = 0

=> B = 45/2  Days    as B = 3 not possible A takes 7 days less than B

b can complete the work 2/9 part.    = (2/9) (45/2)  = 5 days

5 days is correct answer
