A and B were partners sharing profits in the ratio of 3:2. They admitted C with 1/4th share of profits of the firm. C contributes Rs. 15,000 as his capital. Calculate the required amount of capital of A and B.

Answer:

Let us first find the new profit sharing ratio of partners.

Calculation of new profit sharing ratio:

Formula = old ratio × (1 - share of new partner)

A's share of profits = 3/5 × (1 - 1/4)

= 3/5 × 3/4

= 9/20

B's share of profits = 2/5 × (1 - 1/4)

= 2/5 × 3/4

= 6/20

C's share of profits = 1/4 = 5/20

So, new ratio = 9 : 6 : 5

Calculation of new capitals :

As C brings in Rs. 15,000, total capital of the firm will be :

15,000 × 4/1 = 60,000

[ Total capital = New partner's capital × reciprocal of his profit sharing ratio

The capital of new partner is taken as base, so as to find the total capital, total capital is calculated as above]

So,

A's share = 60,000 × 9/20 = Rs. 27,000

B's share = 60,000 × 6/20 = Rs. 18,000

Hence, the required amount of capitals of A and B are Rs. 27,000 and Rs. 18,000 respectively.

Given : A and B were partners sharing Profits in the ratio of 3:2 they admit C with 1/4th share of profits of the firm .

C contributes rs 15000 as his capital calculate

To Find : the required amount of capital of A and B

Explanation:

Let say  Total Investment = 20k

C with 1/4th share  = (1/4)20k  =  5k

Remaining share = 20k - 5k = 15k

A's share  = (3/(3 + 2)) * 15k  = 9k

B' share = ( 2/(3 + 2)) * 15k  = 6k

C contributes Rs 15000

5k  = 15000

=> k = 3000

A's Capital  = 9k  = 9 x 3000  = 27000  Rs

B' Capital =   6k  = 6 x 3000  = 18000 Rs
