Let the salaries of A and B be x and y respectively..
Expenditure of A=x * 95/100
=95x/100
Saving of A=x - 95x/100
=(100x - 95x)/100
=5x/100
.............
Expenditure of B=y * 85/100
=85y/100
Saving of B=y - 85y/100
=(100y - 85y)/100
=15y/100
........
Given:
x+y=2000 - - - - - (i)
Saving of A=Saving of B
5x/100=15y/100
5x=15y
x=3y - - - - - (ii)
...........
Putting eq (ii) in eq (i)
..........
x+y=2000
3y+y=2000
4y=2000
y=500
.....
Putting y=500 in eq (i)
x=3y
x=3*500
x=1500
