There was a clear lack of unity among the rebels and there was no common purpose among them during the revolt of 1857. The revolt did not spread to all the parts of India instead it was confined to the Northern and Central India.

2.With the Second World War, Britain lost a large amount of economic, military and political strength. With a lowering in support even from its own citizens, the leaders of the United Kingdom opened up discussions with their Indian counterparts regarding the freedom of India.

3.Two repressive measures were taken by the government to suppress the Swadeshi and the Boycott Movement were: The government banned holding of rallies, taking out of processions, censored newspapers and imprisoned the leaders of the national movement.
