2)The upper layer of earth crust is known as soil. It is the mixture of organic remains, clay and rock particles. Soil is mainly formed due to the weathering.

3)Humus can be simply defined as the fertile and the important constituent of the soil.Humus are the dark, organic material present on top of the soil. This organic matter mainly constitutes of dead and decaying animal substances, dried leaves, twigs, grasses, vegetables, microbes and other nutrients.

4) Factors that affect soil formation. Soils form from the interplay of five main factors namely Parent material, Time, Climate, Relief and Organisms. Parent material: This refers to the mineral material or organic material from which the soil is formed.
