To answer your 1st question,
In the story of the "open window", Vera chose to tell lies to Frampton because she aimed at doing pranks and entertaining herself with the help of her telltales.
She enjoyed by noticing peoples' vulnerabilities and then convincing them of some lies. She liked to exploit people in this ridiculing manner.
She lies to Frampton, as the lie started from Frampton in the first place.
The questions have been asked from the story The Open Window.
1. Vera was a 15 year old girl and her behaviour in the theory suggested that she frequently made up stories. When she lied to Framtion. she was trying to prevent the man who was recovering from a nervous breakdown from staying at the home of her aunt.
2. Mr. Sappleton and his two brothers went to hunt 3 years ago, and they left the house by the French window. However, they did not return and since, then the window was open until they came back.
- Vera was telling the tale of their disappearance to Mr. Framtion just when Mrs. Sappleton sees her husband and brothers returning that moment.
- Vera gets apparently shocked by their sight and anxious Mr. Framtion gets frightened and hurries out of the house
