1. The wolf, also known as the gray wolf or grey wolf, is a large canine native to Eurasia and North America

2. I'm not acquainted with the poem, but "highrises" are simply tall buildings, and "ruby-crowned" must be a metaphor referring to the tops of the buildings gleaming red (most likely at sunset)

3. the last wolf hurried toward me”, is a nervous way to start a poem. ... implied with my favorite image in the poem, “the few ruby-crowned highrises”. ... the connection between the elevator shafts and the rabbits (from “warrens”).

5. To howl is to make a long, sad, crying sound. You might howl every once in a while, but it's more common to hear wolves and dogs let loose and howl, especially in the presence of a full moon.

6. It seems as if the wold is hovering over the consciousness of this young child. Also, the poet showed how he used to feel haunted because of cries of wolves while he would sleep at night, when he was himself a child.
