2 minutes 40 second have 140 seconds so in 140 sec the athlete I will reach on the other side of the diameter so that displacement is 200 metre

Answer:

Distance=2200m

Displacement=200m

Explanation:

Total time= 2minutes 20seconds

= 2 × 60seconds + 20seconds

= 140s

In 40s, the number of rounds completed = 1

So, In 140s the number of rounds

completed =1/40×140 = 3.5

Distance covered in 3.5 rounds

The diameter is given to be 200m, so the radius = 200/2 = 100m.

Now, Distance covered in 1 round

=Circumference of circular track

=2πr

=2×22/7×100m

=628.57m

And, Distance = 628.57 × 3.5m

in 3.5 rounds = 2200m

Displacemant in 3.5 rounds:-

The athlete makes 3 and a half rounds of the circular track. Now, if the athlete starts from point A, then after 3 complete rounds, he will reach at the same point A. And when the athlete again starts from point A and makes the remaining half round, he will reach at the point B. So, the displacement will be equal to diameter of the circular track which is 200m.
