Given -> a + b = 1

↪a - b = 7

Solution -> By subtracting both equations

↪b = -3

↪Put value of b in

↪a - b = 7

↪a - (-3) = 7

↪a + 3 = 7

↪a = 7 - 3 = 4

↪a = 4

↪a^2 + b^2

↪(4)^2 + (-3)^2

↪16 + 9 = 25
