heya!!

Seems like you did a mistake, its a + b = -13 as there isn't any difference between ab and a × b. And if it is,

here is your solution -

Ginven,

a+b = -13
So, a = -13 - b

here, ab= 36
Then, a =36 / b

Hence, 36 / b = - 13 - b

36 = (-13 - b ) b

36 = - 13 b - b²

=> b² + 13 b +36 =0

=> b² + 9b + 4b + 36 = 0

=> b (b + 9) + 4 (b + 9) = 0

=> (b + 9) (b + 4) = 0

b= -9 or b= -4

So,

b = -9 then a = - 4 or

b = - 4 then a = - 9

hope it helps!!

jiyaansari: correct answer
aishowrya: thanks :D
